Home Patch: This week

On Wednesday evening (08/31) large numbers of swallows and swifts circled low over the wetland, including dozens of Bank Swallows. Around the gazebo Alder Flycatchers were very vocal right until sunset with up to four birds heard. Otherwise the woods were quiet, but the waxbills are still around and may become a fixture at the park. It was windy today and mostly quiet. Blue-winged Teal have arrived in larger numbers and a single Pectoral Sandpiper flew over the wetland. The first American Kestrel showed up today.
